Westerly Hospital Celebrates World Breastfeeding Week

More than 120 countries celebrate World Breastfeeding Week each year from August 1-7. The celebration began in 1990 when the World Health Organization and UNICEF wrote a declaration to protect, promote and support breastfeeding.

At The Westerly Hospital, we’re recognized as a Baby Friendly® hospital; we provide the optimal level of information and support to help new moms learn skills to initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies. Our certified lactation consultants and ongoing breast feeding support group are here to help. If you have any questions or would like more information, call the Women's Health Center at 401-348-3365.
