Arthritis Support
Third Tuesday of the month on alternating month from 11 a.m. – noon at The Westerly Hospital's Henry J. Nardone Conference Center. This support group is run by Andrea Chesky, Occupational Therapy Assistant at The Westerly Hospital. To register for a session, call 401-348-3346 or 1-800-933-5960, ext. 3346.
Breast Feeding Support
Every Monday, 5:30-7:00 p.m. Sessions held at Women's Health of Westerly located in the Morgan Medical Building, 45 Wells Street, Westerly.
Cancer Support Group
Fourth Wednesday of the month, 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m in The Westerly Hospital's Henry J. Nardone Conference Center. Designed for all cancer survivors, patients, family, friends, and caregivers on a drop-in basis. The group is facilitated by Angela DeLorenzo, Oncology Nurse at Dr. Legare and Dr Knisley’s office and Kim Kralicky, Licensed Clinical Social Worker for The Westerly Hospital.
Diabetes Support Group
First Wednesday of the month, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the North Stonington Health Center, 183 Providence-New London Turnpike, North Stonington, CT. Registration required (call 401-348-3533 to register). Group focuses on concerns of diabetics, how to deal with a diabetes diagnosis, psychosocial aspects of diabetes, common emotional reactions, and dealing with the transition of living with diabetes. Group facilitated by Herb Nieburg, PhD, a psychologist and associate professor at Mitchell College who deals with health-related issues and Mark Rogers, PharmD, CDOE, Clinical Pharmacist at The Westerly Hospital and site coordinator of the Hospital's Diabetes Education Program. Grief Support
The next six-week session will begin on Friday, January 20, 2012 and run through Friday, February 24, 2012, from 4 - 5:30 p.m. in the Westerly Hospital's Henry J. Nardone Conference Center. The group is offered in partnership with Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island and is intended to provide participants with skills and strategies to cope with the loss of a loved one. Post Polio Syndrome Support
Third Saturday of the month, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the Westerly Hospital's Henry J. Nardone Conference Center. The group is faciliated by a community member who is also a polio survivor. The group is intended to provide resources, information, and support for those who have been stricken with polio and are now experiencing symptoms associated with post-poliomyelitis. Scoliosis Support
Last Thursday of the month, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m, The Westerly Hospital's Henry J. Nardone Conference Center. This program is run by a community member.
"The Sensational Child" Support
For families of children with special needs. This program is run by a member of the community. Second Thursday of the month, 6-8 p.m., The Westerly Hospital's Henry J. Nardone Conference Center. This program is run by a member of the community.
Stroke Support
The next group will meet on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 6 pm. Special speaker will be Dr. Robert Campbell of Duns Corners Chiropractic. Dr. Campbell will speak on neuro-chiropractic services.
For stroke survivors, family, friends, and caregivers. The program will be held on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the Hospital’s Henry J. Nardone Conference Center. The group is run by the hospital’s Rehabilitation Department which provides speech, occupational and physical therapy services. Each session is intended to provide encouragement, education, and socialization for stroke survivors, family, friends, and caregivers. The program is free and open to anyone.
