The Diabetes Outpatient Education (DOE) Program has been developed to help you control your diabetes. Group and individual education programs are available to meet your specific needs.
Group Program
Specially trained health professionals have designed this six-week course to help diabetics learn to better manage their disease while maintaining an active, healthy, and productive lifestyle. The hands-on learning session topics include basics of nutritional management, nutrition labeling, meal planning options, guidelines for eating out, special occasions, glucose monitoring, medications, insulin therapy, sick-day care, foot care, exercise, stress management, and prevention of complications. This course includes two follow-up sessions per year on an on-going basis.
Individual Counseling Session
Individual diabetes education sessions are available and tailored to meet your specific needs. Individual appointments with a Registered Dietitian are available for diabetic meal plans and diet education. Individual appointments are available with a Registered Nurse for glucose meter teaching, insulin therapy teaching, and diabetes basics.
