Third Tuesday of the month on alternating month from 11am – 12pm at The Westerly Hospital’s Henry J. Nardone Conference Center. This support group is run by Andrea Chesky, Occupational Therapy Assistant at The Westerly Hospital. To register for a session, call 401-348-3346 or 1-800-933-5960, ext. 3346.
First Wednesday of the month, 7pm – 8:30pm at The Westerly Hospital’s Nardone Conference Center. Group focuses on concerns of diabetics, how to deal with a diabetes diagnosis, psychosocial aspects of diabetes, common emotional reactions, and dealing with the transition of living with diabetes. Group facilitated by Herb Nieburg, PhD, a psychologist and associate professor at Mitchell College who deals with health-related issues and Mark Rogers, PharmD, CDOE, Clinical Pharmacist at The Westerly Hospital and site coordinator of the Hospital’s Diabetes Education Program. Six-week sessions are periodically offered at the hospital and are facilitated by Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island. The sessions are intended to provide participants with skills and strategies to cope with the loss of a loved one. For information, please call Brian Wilkins, Bereavement Coordinator, 401-415-4678.
Post Polio Syndrome Support
Third Saturday of the month, 10am – 12pm in the Westerly Hospital’s Henry J. Nardone Conference Center. The group is faciliated by a community member who is also a polio survivor. The group is intended to provide resources, information, and support for those who have been stricken with polio and are now experiencing symptoms associated with post-poliomyelitis. The “Sensational” Child: Families with Special Needs Children
