Learn to identify and defeat unconscious biases at May 8 workshop

All YNHHS employees are invited to “OUCH! That Stereotype Hurts,” a free workshop on identifying and defeating unconscious biases, Tuesday, May 8, Trumbull Marriott, 180 Hawley Lane. Sound therapy workshop May 17

Employees are invited to a free Smilow Wellness Workshop Series presentation, “Sound Therapy: Music of the Mind And Body,” 5:30 pm Thursday, May 17, 55 Park St. auditorium. In this interactive workshop, Beth Patella, recreational therapist, sound healer and teacher, will cover how to achieve relaxation through sound and music. SRC Emergency Department expansion, upgrade to begin soon

The first phase of a project to expand the Saint Raphael Campus ED was scheduled to begin in April and will include nine new exam rooms, two new triage rooms, a centralized nursing station and renovations of existing spaces. Phase one is scheduled to be complete in the fall. During construction, employees will not be able to access the hospital through the ED. Signs are posted directing non-ED staff to other hospital entrances.

Auxiliary project grants deadline July 2

Hospital departments at both campuses are invited to apply for up to $5,000 from the YNHH Auxiliary’s Project Grants Program for FY 2018-19. Requests must be submitted by Monday, July 2 for projects that directly benefit patients and their families and would not be covered by department funding. Submissions must be approved by the department’s vice president. Cover sheets and documentation should be sent to [email protected]; please include department name and request in the subject line. Supporting documentation should be scanned and attached to the application form. A maximum of six pages will be accepted per proposal. Please include the contact information for the person who will be responsible for spending grant monies. For more information, call 203-688-5717 or email [email protected].
