Wednesday, September 30, 2020

New Haven, CT (Sept. 30, 2020) – Marna Borgstrom, CEO of Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS) will join other top Connecticut healthcare executives and Gov. Ned Lamont to discuss “Beyond the Coronavirus Crisis: Change, Innovation, Leadership, Success,” with Quinnipiac University President Judy Olian at 3 pm on Thursday, Oct. 1.

The virtual event is part of the School of Health Sciences’ Denise J. Fiore ’78, MBA ’91 Thought Leaders in Healthcare Speaker Series. Click here to register. Denise Fiore, currently the chief operating officer of Lawrence + Memorial, has been with YNHHS for 42 years.

Other panelists include Reginald Eadie, MD, president and CEO of Trinity Health Of New England; Jeffrey Flaks, president and CEO of Hartford HealthCare; and John M. Murphy, MD, president and CEO of Nuvance Health.

The health, economic and social impacts of COVID-19 have had far-reaching negative consequences for all segments of our population, with a disproportionate impact on the most vulnerable. Connecticut, a hot spot early in the pandemic, has shown a remarkable turnaround since April and has emerged as a leader in containing the spread.

As devastating as COVID-19 has been, it also has resulted in unexpected positive outcomes due to an abrupt shift to new work and social environments that have forced us to innovate in order to survive and thrive.

The CEOs, Lamont and Olian will talk about the critical roles leadership and innovation have played in navigating the COVID-19 pandemic as well as their views on the future.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as a convenor of innovative thought leaders for robust discussions on the most pressing and immediate issues facing health care,” said Janelle Chiasera, dean of the School of Health Sciences. “Innovation, leadership and success around complex issues rarely happens in a vacuum. It will be fascinating to listen to health care, political and education leaders as they discuss the roles teamwork, leadership and innovation play in navigating our current crisis.”
