New Haven, CT (Oct. 29, 2020) – Last night, Yale New Haven Health CEO Marna P. Borgstrom was named B’nai B’rith’s Charles Lauer National Healthcare Award winner for her dedication to community service, excellence in leadership and outstanding philanthropic commitment in the healthcare community and beyond.

“Marna Borgstrom is an example of the many thousands of health care workers, hospitals and organizations who are today’s heroes in fighting the pandemic,” said Dan Mariaschin, CEO, B’nai B’rith International. “As we salute Marna, we salute everyone who is risking their lives to help us in this historic battle.”

The Charles Lauer National Healthcare Award was established 38 years ago to highlight the outstanding work of individuals and corporations who set the standards for health and education initiatives that better the lives of people throughout their communities and around the world. The esteemed recipients of the National Healthcare Award have a history of dedicated leadership and outstanding civic involvement in the healthcare field and in the general community. They support philanthropic causes benefiting health, youth, and education programs. “B’nai B’rith is honored to recognize Marna Borgstrom as an example of this enlightened leadership and dedication especially during this crisis,” continued Mariaschin.

“The mission of Yale New Haven Health is closely aligned with the commitment of B’nai B’rith,” said Ms. Borgstrom. “As an organization fully dedicated to social justice and civic involvement, B’nai B’rith has been a true leader in our communities. And, like the organization I am proud to lead, it has worked tirelessly to drive change based upon core values of fairness and equity. I am humbled to receive the Charles Lauer Award and to be counted among the remarkable individuals who have been recognized as recipients in the past.”

The award was named in memory of Chuck Lauer, a past recipient and beloved member of the healthcare community. Mr. Lauer was the publisher of Modern Healthcare and the personification of the spirit of this award. Funds raised from this event help enrich the lives of individuals around the globe through B’nai B’rith’s healthcare and disaster relief initiatives. Through programs that promote education, inspire advocacy, and provide financial resources, B’nai B’rith is dedicated to the health and welfare of those across the nation and around the globe
