Westerly Hospital Auxiliary now accepting scholarship applications

WESTERLY, RI (March 17, 2021) – The Westerly Hospital Auxiliary is now accepting scholarship applications from area high school students who plan to pursue a career in the field of health care.

Applications will be accepted from students who reside in Westerly, Charlestown, Hopkinton or Richmond, RI, and Stonington and North Stonington, CT through April 22, 2021, and will be awarded to candidates based on academic achievement, financial need, career goals and school and community involvement.

The Westerly Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship was established in 1973 in order to provide post-secondary scholarship assistance to individuals seeking education or training for a career in any area of health care. In 1999, the Mary C. Pucci Scholarship was added which gives preference to students who plan to work most directly with patients.

Westerly Hospital, a member of Yale New Haven Health, is a 125-bed hospital that has been providing residents of southern Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut with a full range of inpatient and outpatient services in a community hospital setting for more than 90 years. Westerly Hospital patients receive the finest quality treatment in the following areas of care: emergency, medical, surgical, radiology, laboratory and rehabilitative services. The hospital also offers heart and vascular care, interventional pain management, wound care, pulmonary rehabilitation services, inpatient geriatric psychiatric care and comprehensive cancer care provided through the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center.
