If you or someone you know is affected by diabetes, polio or scoliosis, or you have a special needs child, Westerly Hospital offers compassionate guidance and camaraderie through our support groups. All groups are free and open to everyone.

Northeast Medical Group offers a free monthly diabetes support group at Westerly Hospital for patients, families and caregivers. Sessions are held on the first Wednesday of the month from 5 - 6 pm in the Henry J. Nardone Conference Center. The group is facilitated by Joan Sommers, RD, CDN, CDE and Dandie Gallaher, LICSW. This group meets on the third Saturday of the month, 10:00am – 12:00pm, in Westerly Hospital’s Henry J. Nardone Conference Center. Facilitated by a community member who is also a polio survivor, the group provides resources, information and support for those who have been stricken with polio and are now experiencing symptoms associated with post-poliomyelitis. The group consists of members who have scoliosis and various other spine problems, and offers support and information. This group is facilitated by a community member who has undergone scoliosis spine surgery. For more information call Patty at 401-348-8085.

This program is run by a member of the community and meets the second Thursday of the month from 6:00pm – 8:00pm in Westerly Hospital’s Henry J. Nardone Conference Center.
